ACOUSTICAL
CARPENTRY APPRENTICESHIP
Mission
Statement
To provide men and women the opportunity to better their life
and thier families lives. To open doors with training and
mentoring in the Acoustical Ceiling and Carpentry trades;
and provide a safe and friendly work place. Our goal: Turning
a career opportunity from a dream to a reality.
EDUCATION’S
BEST KEPT SECRET
- If
a lifetime desk job doesn’t sound interesting, CARPENTRY
may be for you.
- If
you like to build, to work with your hands, CARPENTRY is
for you.
- The
ACOUSTICAL CARPENTRY INJ is a career-oriented program.
- Don’t
wait until you finish college to earn a living. As an apprentice
you will earn while you learn, from day one.
- Begin
at 50% of journeyman’s wages (if you have no previous experience),
and increase in 5% increments as you grow in knowledge.
- Enter
the job market upon graduation with real marketable skills
and journeyman’s wages, not entry-level wages.
- Your
cost as an apprentice is nominal compared to college tuition.
- To
make you vastly employable, this program teaches all phases
of carpentry. Here’s a sample of the skills you’ll master:

Will
I need any tools? You will need some hand tools when you
go to work. Even though you’ll be the "low man on the
totem pole" for a while, you want to remind your employer
that you are in training to be a journeyman acoustical carpenter.
Power tools will not be needed. Below is a basic tool list.
Tools make you look good, borrowing doesn’t. You will still
be able to use most of them around your house or apartment,
should you leave the program.
|
25 ft. Tape Measure-1" wide |
20 oz. Hammer |
|
Nail Apron, Cloth |
Aviation Snips |
|
Utility Knife |
Linesman Pliers (Kleins) |
Where
will I work? Our area covers 3 counties- Orange, Osceola
and Seminole. Some jobs are reachable by the transit system;
most aren’t. If you do not have a vehicle, you will be limited
as to where and how often you work. Without a doubt, reliable
transportation is the single most important tool you can own.
Without it you won’t get to work or you’ll lose the job you
already have.
What
kind of pay can I expect?
Apprentices earn while they learn. The lowest wage is just
over $8.50 plus per hour. That’s 50% of journeyman’s rate.
Not everyone starts at this rate, but it gives you an idea
of the low-end pay rate. Your raises are earned in school;
your living is earned on the job. Ideally, you can expect
3 raises per year. This will depend on how often you attend
class and what you do when you go to class. Graduating students
will make on average 100% of jouneyman's wage.
What
is the training school like?
School is largely hands on training; you come to class to
build. Prior to building in class you will do homework that
corresponds to the project you will be building. The homework
is open book.
What
is the cost of the schooling?
Great News! At this time there is no cost for Lab Fees.
How
do I get started? First, become a full time employee of
Acousti Engineering Company of Florida.

An Apprentice
is a person who is learning a trade or subject. In Apprenticeship
you will be training for the trade by going to school, and
working on a job site. As an Apprentice you will be taught
the fundamentals and disciplines of each craft. After you
complete your training you will become a Journeyman. A Journeyman
has finished his Apprenticeship training and is on a passage
to becoming a master craftsman. You will be able to do this
by taking the knowledge you learn in Apprenticeship and honing
your skills in the Acoustical Craft.
